Baseball: LSU takes game one against Auburn -- 5/15

Tigers extend winning streak to 14 games

The LSU baseball team won its 14th straight game Thursday night, defeating Auburn, 6-4.

The first three Tigers in the batting order -- senior Michael Hollander, sophomore Jared Mitchell and junior Derek Helenihi -- each had two hits. Freshman shortsop DJ LeMahieu went 3-for-4 and had two RBIs in the game.

LSU collected 16 hits in the contest.

Junior pitcher Ryan Verdugo started for LSU. He struck out six and gave up six hits in 5 2/3 innings. Game two of the three-game series is scheduled for Friday night at 6 p.m.
