Student Government extends our appreciation!

4/11/10 2:12 PM

LSU Student Government would like to truly express our appreciation for all student and faculty efforts that made “Fund Our Future” a reality. Our quest for support is not over. We need students to continue to take a stand in support of the LSU Student Government Budget Proposal now and in the future months of the 2010 State Legislative Session. There are many ways in which students can help. On the home page of www.sg.lsu.edu there is a petition in which every student is encouraged to sign. Also, the “Budget Cut Resources” link on the home page will lead to a page of active things any student can do to reach legislators, such as making a call or writing a letter. The page even includes talking points and a downloadable version of the SG proposal. We would also...

This week in student government is an exciting one. There are lots of events that you can take part in to make a motion for your education. Coffee and Calls went very well last week and we are gearing up for a second round this week! Calling your legislator is such an easy way for you to stand up for your education. Our next event will be Tuesday from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. in Live Oak Lounge. Come stop by to get information on budget cuts, call your legislator and drink some free coffee. The spring elections are gearing up and I’m sure most everyone has seen push cards, large banners and candidates campaigning for your vote. This week there is a debate sponsored by the Freshman Leadership Council on Tuesday, March 16th in the Cotillion Ballroom of the Union. The event will be...

Economic Advisor Gregg Upton will be discussing and outlining the official Student Government proposal on budget cuts this Thursday, March 11 at 7 p.m. in the Atchafalaya Room of the Union. This week in SG something exciting is happening. Monday, March 1st at noon, Melissa Guidry, Director of Student Involvement will be announcing the headlining act for the spring 2010 “Groovin’ on the Grounds.” This release party takes place in Free Speech Alley and there will be games and prizes. Some of which might include backstage passes. I’m sure you don’t want to miss out. “Groovin’ on the Grounds” is a great event put on by Student Government and Students On Target (SOT) to promote a good time hanging out on the Parade Ground not wasted. This year, “Groovin’” will be held March 20th, with music beginning at 6 p.m. The concert will include an area dedicated to LSU students (so make sure to bring your student ID), a rock...
