Monday night’s Colts-Dolphins game one of the best in a while

I still can’t really figure out what happened during this week's edition of Monday Night Football. The Miami Dolphins dominated the Indianapolis Colts for just about the entire game — they ran for 239 yards while also holding the Colts’ running game to 61 yards. The Dolphins held the ball for more than 45 minutes while running 84 offensive plays. And how were the Dolphins rewarded for their efforts? They lost. They did just about everything an NFL team can do to win a game, and yet they found a way to lose. So how did they do it? It wasn’t turnovers. Miami only had one turnover, and it came on the last play of the game when quarterback Chad Pennington’s desperation heave into the end zone at the end of the game was picked off by Colts safety Antoine...I’m not the world’s biggest Saints fan, but I’ve definitely paid my dues.....

I’m not the world’s biggest Saints fan, but I’ve definitely paid my dues. With a fanhood that started when Ditka traded his entire draft for Ricky Williams, I’ve seen my share of heartache coupled with a sprinkling of blissful moments – no need to rehash them here. Through it all I’ve earned a reputation as a bit of a Saints realist – maybe even a pessimist. It’s something I don’t deny, which is why I was stunned when I looked down this afternoon after the Saints-Eagles game and realized I’d gulped down an entire pitcher of Black and Gold Kool-Aid. The Saints are starting their 2009 season like the New England Patriots began 2007 – complete and utter destruction of everything they come across. I’m not stupid enough...
