The Department of State Civil Service recently OK’d the University’s plan to withhold merit increases for the 2009-10 fiscal year that starts July 1.
University faculty and staff received an e-mail confirming the approval today.
Last week, LSU System President John Lombardi announced the cut in merit-based pay raises for all System employees for 2009-10 because of pending budget cuts.

THAN YOU, Reveille, for publishing my comments. I really hope my fellow faculty, and alumni realize the order of magnitude of this one-sided treatment. That is one reason I have never contributed to my Alma Mater: So much spent for the chancellor's already sumptuous perks while, in the LSU case, eliminating a vital student scholarship.

"Last week, LSU System President John Lombardi announced the cut in merit-based pay raises for all System employees for 2009-10 because of pending budget cuts"Isn't it grossly unfair for these fat cat boot licks to be allowed to arrogate upon themselves decisions that affect the very livelihood of small guys, while THEY are enjoying full Board of Supervisors protection and get to keep all their exorbitant pay, practically uncontrolled spending on travel, entertainment, dinners, luxury automobiles free housing, etc., all at taxpayers' expense and Alumni donations.
