The Daily Reveille provides the comment option on all columns and articles to provide a venue for input and discussion from its readers. We hold ourselves to the highest standard, and we approve all comments unless limited by the following guidelines.

Inordinately long

Posts can be no longer than 250 words.

No outside links for the purpose of advertising or soliciting

Posts that have links to outside Web sites for advertisement or soliciting purposes will not be approved. Acceptable links are links to credible, factual Web sites for the purpose of advancing knowledge.

Obscene, racist or strongly prejudiced language

No obscene, racist or strongly prejudiced language will be permitted. The editor and managing editor have the authority to deem what words are "inappropriate" for the Web site.

Obviously incorrect

No assertions of fact that are obviously incorrect will be approved. This is different than commentary. For example: The judge robbed a bank last week would not be approved if it wasn't true. The judge is a crook would be approved.

Threatening language

Any posts that threaten or could be considered threatening to anyone will not be approved. Also, any posts that specifically target a reporter or another poster will not be approved.

Libelous material

Any material that classifies as libelous will not be posted.

Duplicate posts

Do not submit duplicate posts. The same comment will only be posted once, and the duplicates will be deleted. Duplicate posts also slow down the approval process and will likely delay the posting of a comment.

Discretion of editor

The editor-in-chief and managing editor have the final say of what is appropriate for lsureveille.com.
