10.6.18 LSU vs Florida

LSU sophomore cornerback Greedy Williams (29) claps after a play during the Tigers’ 27-19 loss against the University of Florida on Saturday, Sept. 2018 in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

LSU starting cornerback Greedy Williams will be playing on Sundays next season, as he declared for the 2019 NFL Draft on Sunday via Twitter.

He will not play in the Fiesta Bowl, an LSU official told The Advocate's Brooks Kubena.

“I Have been blessed by God with a beautiful and supportive family," Williams said. "My blessings also include my LSU Tiger Family, both on and off the field. It is with those abundant blessings in mind that I have chosen to pursue to enter the 2019 NFL Draft”

Williams has started every game at cornerback in 2018, totaling two interceptions, nine pass breakups and 33 tackles, making himself a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award for the best defensive back in the country.

The All-American corner is a projected top-10 pick and even top-5 in some mock drafts.

With the departure of Williams, LSU will look to junior Kristian Fulton and freshman Kelvin Joseph to hold down the secondary in 2019.

LSU coach Ed Orgeron said he would be meeting with all draft eligible players within the coming week.
