LSU junior safety Chad Jones was named the Walter Camp national defensive player of the week on Sunday after a pair of game saving plays to preserve LSU's 30-26 win against Mississippi State.
Jones deflected a third down pass with a wide open receiver in the back of the end zone before assisting on a fourth down tackle on Mississippi State senior quarterback Tyson Lee's quarterback sneak attempt.
Jones had seven tackles on the day.
