SHREVEPORT (AP) — Gov. Bobby Jindal proposed Thursday a new slate of laws against sex offenders, including tougher penalties, new restrictions and more types of punishment that he hopes the Legislature will pass in the spring. "I want the message to go out loud and clear: If you intend to break the law, if you intend to hurt a child, you better not do it here in Louisiana," Jindal said. "Here, our justice will be swift and our penalties will be tough." The most sweeping proposal would let Louisiana confine sex offenders beyond their prison sentences by involuntarily committing them to mental health hospitals for treatment. More than a dozen other states have similar laws.

Many of you say we should not worry about sex offenders. We should not spend our tax dollars to keep them off our streets. We should not put them in jail because they can or have been rehabilitated. some of you say that these offenders have served thier time and so we should leave them alone and let them live thier lives as normal as we do....have children or be around children. Our children are safe because they served time....they know better now.
Have you all lost your minds? Are you really that concerned about your money and not the welfare of our children? Is money that important to you? How is it that a man, Brian Douglas Horn age 34, with at least 14 prior arrest on his record, including two other sex-related offenses, 3 years spent in prison, rape and murder a 12 year boy be put in jail again only to be released later? IS THIS WHAT YOU PEOPLE THINK IS JUSTICE???? Is this how you think we should treat the people who kill our children? Ok.... just let them kill your child and then serve time in a hospital or prison only to be set free later. WE need better justice!!! I am willing to spend all my taxes to more justice in Lousiana! What is wrong with you people?!

Gov. Jindal is cutting the funding for mental health beds in Louisiana........what beds is he planning to use for these persons? If we fill them all with sex offenders where are we supposed to hospitalize the mental health patients who could really benefit from inpatient treatment? I can not wait until his four years are up! He is a moron!

What a looser. He lost his credibility when he represented the GOP in a response to Obama. Now he jumps back on the sex offender band wagon in an attempt to regain lost credibility. What a dunce.

Problem is, people are ignorant enough to believe what he says will actually prevent sexual abuse. It won't. What it will do is, add more tax burden to the citizens while doing absolutely nothing to protect even one child. It will endanger and do more harm than good.

Well, the citizens elected him, but they don't deserve the misuse and abuse of the govenor's office that they are getting.

The citizens are beginning to wake up. Times are changing. Jindal needs to be voted OUT!

The citizens of Louisiana deserve better than this.

It seems to me, the only way he can get publicity is to jump on this sex offender band wagon and continue to push for laws that are unconstitutional, violate human and civil rights for every citizen. All through "emotionalism."

my husband is a sex offender. We are lucky that our landlord lets us rent our house or we would be homeless. He lost his job over being a "sex offender" (he was a courier for flowers) and now I have to find a job to support us. Did I mention I'm 3 months pregnant? My husband can't go to the park with our daughter or when she starts school he won't be able to go to any of her school activities. He also can't accompany our daughter trick or treating or wear a hoodie on his head.

My husband's crime? Her met a girl in a bar, exchanged emails with her and she sent him nude photos of herself. She was 16.

He served his time and 5 years down the road he's got a wife, a kid and a baby on the way. We are all being punished because some girl snuck into a bar.

I find it interesting that they are still beating this dead horse. You pile anymore on these guys and after a point it really doesn't make alot of difference. Once you become homeless,out of work and can't even get a job. What difference does it make? I think they can't find enough that will commit another sex crime to back their lies so they make it impossible for them not to break some kind of law so they can say see they always reoffend. Not that they commited another sex crime just that they finally came up with the right combination of unconstitutional laws to trip them up. My question would be is don't they have enough people in prison? Is this such a good cash cow that they want to make it an even better money maker. All they need is the bodies and hey make a few more laws and we will get them.

Why create new and tougher laws for sex offenders when the existing laws are unjust and counterproductive? Laws created from mass hysteria, panic, confusion and the media; do little or nothing to make the public any safer.

The broad definition of the term "sex offender" has devastated many individuals who are guilty of no more than a one time lapse of good judgment. Contrary to popular belief, many so-called "sex offenders" are of no risk to the communities in which they live and work. The public disclosure of personal information is a violation of one’s rights and the ability to re-integrate into society.

Why doesn't Governor Jindal work on re-building the parts of Lousiana still devasted by Hurricane Katrina's wrath?

Little Bobby is a plant by a Republican agenda trying to figure out how to make dollars on the pain they created and feel a need to continue to sweep under the rug their mistakes on what they want to believe that just is not true. Sex Offender are not life long leper's unable to change their lives. Maybe these lummox's feels he can't do anything about his problem but most do not agree with these week excuses and know people on average really do love their family and have gotten past expecting their wife's to eat their placentas offering their children for sexual pleasure like the dark ages these thinking processes come from. Facts are facts and they were and still are wrong. Moving sex offenders out of homes, lives, jobs, have proven we are all connected, and cutting off your nose despite your face does make blood. Till these backward minded bloodletting booster and thieves get to see the last of the spending package go out the door we will not hear the last from these money grubbers. Sex offender can not pay their bills because they are baned from the work place so banks go south looking for help. Refused credit or even a home and this pushes up homelessness, vagrancy and crime created by a flawed system brought to you by these American terrorist in our own gov. Are you going to continue to listen to their lies or set aside their worthless policys.

Here we have Bobby Jindal and David Vitter.

David Vitter announced on National TV that he had been forgiven by God and His Wife for his indiscretions with Prostitutes. Renting the services of Prostitutes is a Sex Crime.

Bobby Jindal, swore an Oath of Office:
This is the Oath of Office Bobby Jindal Took:

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support the constitution and laws of the United States and the constitution and laws of this state and that I will faithfully and impartially discharge and perform all the duties incumbent on me according to the best of my ability and understanding, so help me God.

Bobby Jindal took that oath when he became Governor of Louisiana.
When will he change these laws to help the children of Louisiana?

The Louisiana Constitution says plainly:
Article 1, Section 23. Prohibited Laws
No bill of attainder, ex post facto law, or law impairing the obligation of contracts shall be enacted.
But David Vitter does not believe in Forgiveness for common citizens, nor does Bobby Jindal Honor his oath of office.

As long as David Vitter and Bobby Jindal openly seek to punish men and women who have served their time years ago for any type of sex crime, and have not sinned, committed any new crime.. why are they getting away with imposing Ex Post Facto law, in that Louisiana enacted Retroactive Registration of Sex Offenders who had served their time way before the new laws were put into effect.
Someone please answer this question point by point?
