The Klu Klux Klan confirmed it will march on Ole Miss's campus Saturday.

Shane Tate, Grand Titan for the Mississippi White Knights of the Klu Klux Klan confirmed via e-mail the KKK will be marching from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Oxford on Saturday.

Multiple news organizations reported last week the KKK was considering the march in response to Ole Miss Chancellor Dan Jones' order for the Ole Miss band to discontinue playing "From Dixie with Love." Jones issued his order after students refused to stop chanting the "the South will rise again" during the song.

the stupid ignorant people are the ones that think that "the south will rise again" or mentioning the word "dixie" is racist in anyway. This has nothing to do with race. And for all of you uneducated and remedial idiots, neither did the civil war. Dixie and the south are part of our heritage. It stands for our home, our birthplace, our conservative beliefs, and our way of life. We hold an intense pride in our beliefs and our families heritage, and would like to keep it that way. And if in any case you want to turn this into a racist issue, you have your martin luther king day, and your whole heritage month, and your B.E.T., so shut your mouths and let us have our heritage and rights. I support the protest and hope that Ole Miss never loses their dixie roots.

I dont understand why some white folks in bed linen have a say about anything. This isnt a white country and if thats what they want they should try to take over Greenland and go live there and be white. :) Problem solved.

As a educated black woman with a son who is a highly recruted athlete. He will never be allowed to attend a college that would allow such an ingorant orginization on thier campus. I realize that there is racism throughout the SEC but this takes the cake. Black People of America this is the SEC at its best.

All the African American football players should boycott the game.

That will leave the kickers and one long snapper left on the field.

I have been an ole miss fan as long as i can remember. The university of Mississippi has long been looked at in a bad view because of our " Southern heritage". I say let it go put the past away like it should be and look forward to new traditions yet embrace the good of our past. We can be the Rebels without being racist and surely with all of the "scholars" we have at the university someone can figure out a way to do just that. As a state and university in this state we have come so far, do not throw it away now! This march will do nothing to help the university it will only hurt everyone should have a voice but stand up for your self and dont let some outrageous group such as the kkk be your voice. Everyone knows what they stand for and chances are most dont believe the way they do so i say keep them out of oxford and if you have an opinion voice it yourself dont let some outdated crazed group speak for you! After saying that i do believe we should stay the Rebels and keep our tradition but adapt and evolve like the rest of the u s has done. Leave the past where it should be and " Welcome To The Future". Hotty Toddy and geaux to hell L.S.U!!!!

I for one wiil be at the game and frown upon the KKK invading our beautiful campus. As an Ole Miss grad and supporter, I think the time has come to make these changes. We need to think about the prosperity of Ole Miss and the recruiting inplications this can have on our programs in general. Lets keep the clan off our campus and sismiss them spewing their hate.

To paraphrase a line from a Mississippi-based film: "When are people going to realize that the 60s are over -- the 1860s and the 1960s?"

Hate speech, although allowed by our Constitution, should be eschewed by all people of good will. I can see no good that can come by hating any individual or group of individuals without cause.

What is this? A collection of moron mentality? Judging from the last three posts, I would say there are some very mentally disturbed psychos around.

The KKK is the most ignorant group that currently exists in America. It's 2009, get a life.

to johnny and christian crusader? While you are entitled to your ignorant and racist views, but what you DON'T have the right to do is FORCE them on others. It's really that simple; you can hate all you want and that is ok, but you both need to stay in your place, live your life and leave others alone. JUST LIKE YOU WANT THE RIGHT TO YOUR OWN FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND HATE, others want their right to excercise their views and beliefs as well.

Really...this is a simple one, just like the brains of the first three commentors: If the Klan is for it, why would you be?

You mean the tradition of saying "the south will rise again" that started in 2004? or the tradition of playing "From Dixie with Love" which started in the 1970's? you realize that Ole Miss was founded in 1848, right? a tradition that is not even forty years old at a college of over a hundred. an outstanding organization like the Klu Klux Klan?!? Is that even worth rebutting? A tradition that makes MY state of Mississippi look terrible to the point where we lose funding and continue to be the laughing stock of the entire nation--which we are, dumbasses--isn't worth keeping. Before Khayt's progressive reforms, Ole Miss was worthless. And what do I say to the Klan? As a white Mississippian from Oxford, get the hell out of my town you ignorant fools.

I hope the march will be peaceful and that someday, the KKK will be abolished. How tragic that they are still around and sowing hate.

It seems the KKK is the only group that is willing to speak our for freedom of speech and our rights as citizens of Mississippi, especially those of White people who are just as important as any other group of people that God made.

I'm very proud that Southerners still have a upstanding organization like the KU KLUX KLAN.I can only hope that the march is peaceful and People see the klan is not their enemy ,they are here for them and their rights. What other organization has said anything about the issue on the removal of FREEDOM of SPEECH.One day people will wake up and see all of our traditions and rights gone and wish they had done something to stop it.
