Interview: A conversation with brat pop duo HOLYCHILD

KLSU's DJ Strangelove sits down with the cutest duo in pop music, HOLYCHILD, before they opened up for MØ at Spanish Moon that night, October 7, 2014. The pair mentioned eating rabbit gumbo in New Orleans while on tour, tighty whiteys, what brat pop is, girl power with roles of females in our culture and conforming to domestic expectations, a never finished live body street art collaboration, stick and poke tattoos, Nasty Gal, and the high and lows of touring.

Album Review: Absent Sounds by From Indian Lakes

From Indian Lakes, a band from just outside Yosemite National Park, California, released their third album, Absent Sounds, on October 7th, 2014. After seeing From Indian Lakes live in 2012, their previous album Able Bodies became a fast favorite of mine, so I was anticipating the release of this album for quite some time. Though Absent Sounds is much lighter and softer than the dark, almost haunting Able Bodies, it does not disappoint. Absent Sounds is comprised of 10 beautiful, majestic songs that flow effortlessly together. Front man Joey Vannucchi’s hushed voice croons from track to track, transporting you to a place of peace and serenity for entirety of the album.

P U N K ! Playlist: October 21, 2014

We got the party started with some Halloween punk smashes since its October, of course. After, we find early noise rock in The Velvet Underground and carry on with a couple class act noise-rock groups. Later, some post punk with some heavy new wave influence, and then some brand spanking new post punk revival. Comments (0)
