BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) – Louisiana's state-licensed casinos won just under $218 million last month after coastal outlets lost most of the Labor Day weekend to Hurricane Gustav.
State police figures show that the 13 riverboat casinos won $153.9 million, while Harrah's downtown casino in New Orleans took in $30.5 million. The four race track casinos won a combined $33.3 million.
Casinos in Lake Charles and the New Orleans area were shuttered during Gustav.
In July, the casinos won just over $232 million. The take for August 2007 was a bit above $213 million.
