These figures reflect the non-classified 2008-2009 annual salaries of University employees as of July 1, 2008. Note that employee salary is not necessarily the same as employee pay; the latter can be affected by other factors like bonuses.

The sum of the salaries equals $219,217,241. Divided among 3,286 employees, this equals an average salary of $66,712.49. The median salary is $58,000.

You can search the database using most browsers' search functions. On Apple computers, the search function is typically accessed by typing Apple + F. On Windows computers, the search function is typically accessed by typing Control + F.

If you are unable to find a specific University employee on the database, please leave a comment and let us know. Keep in mind these figures are current as of July 1, 2008.

As of Oct. 27, 2008, the salaries of Daily Reveille managment are posted on the salary database. These salaries are accurate for the fall 2008 semester only. Because these are student worker salaries, and also because they are scheduled on a per-semester basis, they are not included in the salary sum or in the calculations of the average and median salaries.

Maybe you should post how many years of service, level of education, and other resume information so that is can be put in better perspective. everyone keeps talking about all the people who are overpaid, but keep in mind that there are many that are underpaid as well.

Why is it not right to display this public information in this way? Does it matter if it is located in a library or an office or displayed online? No, either way it will still be viewed. It's a public institution and to be good stewards with public money, this information should be available.

This information has always been available for anyone to check out in the library. Simmer down.

Even though this information is public, it does not make it right to display information in this way.

The information doesn't breed resentment; the inequities do.

Is there any way this information could be made as part of a paper campaign or web article? I just found out about this yesterday! I'm floored not by the fact my salary is posted but what it is in relation to others. Seriously, it is a shame those who have been working in my unit get paid so little and all of these newer people get paid so much. It is a shame... So frustrating

This is exactly the type of resentment that information like this breeds.

Please post the salaries of the classified employees. Some are hired at salaries much higher than instructors with Ph d's and over 25 years teaching experience. It seems to be based on who they know and not what they know and how good a butt kisser they are..

I wonder how this info helps? At best it introduces resentment within faculty (whether deserving or not). The only benefit is that it shows gender bias within LSU.

This is completely ridiculous. The ramifications of reporting something such as this in the newspaper are potentially devastating. There is no rational explanation for posting the salaries of every employee at LSU. I am embarrassed to be an alumus of LSU right now. The Reveille needs to grow up and become the professional newspaper that a university such as LSU deserves. This is poor!
