These figures reflect the non-classified 2008-2009 annual salaries of University employees as of July 1, 2008. Note that employee salary is not necessarily the same as employee pay; the latter can be affected by other factors like bonuses.
The sum of the salaries equals $219,217,241. Divided among 3,286 employees, this equals an average salary of $66,712.49. The median salary is $58,000.

If you are unable to find a specific University employee on the database, please leave a comment and let us know. Keep in mind these figures are current as of July 1, 2008.
As of Oct. 27, 2008, the salaries of Daily Reveille managment are posted on the salary database. These salaries are accurate for the fall 2008 semester only. Because these are student worker salaries, and also because they are scheduled on a per-semester basis, they are not included in the salary sum or in the calculations of the average and median salaries.

There is professor who doesn't even know how to type, asks students to come early in the morning, type his emails, do his personal work, run errands etc etc. He has also asked some of his students to do homework and assignments for his kids, work in his backyard and help move when he changed houses. And this professor doesn't have an iota of professionalism, shouts at people constantly. He thinks he is the greatest person on earth....

So many faculty/staff members were omitted. Compare the list of employees in each college to the overall list of faculty members. Some colleges had less than 50% represented.
One more to add!
I would like to know Charles Roussel's salary. Economics professor.

Dr. Bachar IS a great professor. He masks the difficulty of learning a new language with fun. I have learned more from him than from other foreign language professors who stress daily homework and routine oral exercises. And don't forget, individual application of the language is just as important as going to class everyday.

Bachar is a great teacher
The Professor
I found a quarter in the quad, add me to the list.
Who cares, betch?
You also forgot Jolly Bengolly from Bangladesh.
keep giving us something to talk about reveille!
i think no matter what our opinions are about if this information should or should not be published...we should also consider the wonderment that we live in a country were we can expose this sort of "private" information and all be able to say whether we find it just or not. I can't help but becoming giddy with irony and feeling sort of proud.

There is an instructor missing from the list. Hatem Bachar.(hopefully he isn't getting paid much)

There may be some very dedicated professors on this campus who spend an enormous amount of time working here at LSU, but as a former student worker to a professor, I know they can certainly do little to no work as well. The professor I worked for sent his graduate students to teach his masters and doctoral classes, left early/went to get snacks and coffee constantly or just never showed up when I was there for work, had me write and prepare all of his undergraduate tests, had me write all of his graduate recommendation letters, had me file and organize thousands of journal entries both in hard copy and digitally and write all of the letters to request even more, had me input all of the data for his research and his graduate student's research, had me run errands to any office on campus delivering items, had me meet with students he had scheduled appointments with, had me input and average grades, had me respond to all of his emails and don't forget of course had me lock up the office and research rooms because he had already left. Oh and keep in mind I was only a freshman student worker with no expertise in his subject other than two high school courses. Basically the only thing he did was lecture to the undergraduates and go on research trips (which I entered the data for, again). Oh and how could I forget, submit the grades that I had prepared and averaged. For all the professors and graduate students who do actually work hard, thank you, but don't think everyone is like you there are a lot of people behind the scenes picking up the slack for the lazy professors as well.
my own observation
Observation, most people commenting here are only on the site because it got to them via word of mouth. It's the only reason the Reveille receives a rise in readership momentarily -- they publish something so awful that you have to see it with your own eyes. So, they use that strategy far too often. Usually, most people just wait for the next Tiger Weekly to hit the stands, because at least they're entertaining and don't pretend to be anything besides that.
Observation
One thing that appears somewhat evident through this database posting is the overall popularity (or at least readership) of the Reveille on LSU's campus. Numerous posters have expressed sentiments indicating that they never read the Reveille...100 + posts on a single story would seem to indicate the contrary, in my opinion.

What the real shame is in all this, is that no one sees how ridiculous it is that the football coach's salary is so much higher than the beloved teachers they are raving about in these comments. If you want to boast about the teachers....

Oh right... b/c 3200 for a semester is "so much." Get real. That's, by far, less than someone working for tips in a bar or restaurant would make for one, and secondly, I work on campus, and at 7.50/hr I've made over 5,000 dollars before taxes this year (and not including summer) working from 10-20 hours a week. That's a little less than 3200 for a semester, but those guys put in a lot of work and put up with A LOT of crap.

I love that the editor of the Reveille gets paid so much. I'm pretty sure I read the paper more than he does.
sheesh
I'd like to comment on the genius (read: moron) who said that faculty are paid huge salaries for 9 months of working about 20 hours a week. Clearly, this person hasn't a clue as to the hours faculty put into their work off-campus, as well as "off the clock" (so to speak) hours on campus. Teaching is not about simply holding class and 4-5 "office hours" a week, as anyone who has ever been a real teacher will confirm. I did an hourly breakdown of my salary based on time spent in class, office hours, average weekly time meeting with students beyond office hours, and average weekly hours spent in preparation, planning, and evaluating work. After adding up hours worked per week, I found that I make about $20 an hour, which is *almost* a living wage. Nobody would argue that there are some on the list who make enormous salaries, and perhaps in some cases, their teaching skills leave something to be desired. However, classifying ALL teachers as public servants who receive inflated salaries for working only 20 hours a week, 9 months out of the year, as that poster did, is an oversimplification of the issue which was spewed forth from an obviously simple mind.
