These figures reflect the non-classified 2008-2009 annual salaries of University employees as of July 1, 2008. Note that employee salary is not necessarily the same as employee pay; the latter can be affected by other factors like bonuses.

The sum of the salaries equals $219,217,241. Divided among 3,286 employees, this equals an average salary of $66,712.49. The median salary is $58,000.

You can search the database using most browsers' search functions. On Apple computers, the search function is typically accessed by typing Apple + F. On Windows computers, the search function is typically accessed by typing Control + F.

If you are unable to find a specific University employee on the database, please leave a comment and let us know. Keep in mind these figures are current as of July 1, 2008.

As of Oct. 27, 2008, the salaries of Daily Reveille managment are posted on the salary database. These salaries are accurate for the fall 2008 semester only. Because these are student worker salaries, and also because they are scheduled on a per-semester basis, they are not included in the salary sum or in the calculations of the average and median salaries.

Are you going to publish classified employees salaries/wages? New employee's salaries are exceeding some long term employees of LSU. This would end the hiring your friend at a higher rate corruption. I know these wages are of public record in the LSU library.

Miles is paid too, too much. He should take the blame for losing to Georgia rather than blame his freshman quarterback Jarrett Lee. He has been riding too long with Nick Saban's players. He should have developed Lee and other quarterbacks.

Faculty salaries are public, just that it is a burden to find them.
Well done, Reveille

D. Zhang (chem professor) is seriously overpaid considering the fact that she barely speaks English. Good to see professors who are passionate about their subject matter and who take time to meet with students--Craig Colten, others--being paid well. Mckenna teaches a lot of students in his 825 person class, but who really learns anything? Ah, he doesn't make much so I guess it is okay. I didn't learn much! ha.

Snot-Nosed Kiddies

I'm amazed LSU has any teachers after this disrespectful and insulting behavior towards them. There is a HUGE difference between information that can be found in a book, and information that is purposely published online in cyberspace.

The poster below referred to "snot-nosed kiddies." Boy is that right. Anyone who could enjoy publishing this information online is also a sadist and has mental problems.

I heard about this and could not wait to comment about what little snot-nosed kiddie would do such a thing.

Fully realizing that as a public record one can take the time to go look this up, I find that publishing these salaries is just dirty and low.

So what branch of the Gestapo are you a member of?

All involved in this stunt really do need to not only be relieved of their position on the Reveille, but also be expelled from LSU TOMORROW (yes that is on a Saturday)!

It is very sad to see that internationally recognized scientists who bring in multiples of their compensation in external research funding, who touch the lives of hundreds of students, who work 12 hour days, receive salaries far below of what is given to low and mid level 9-5 administrative personnel whose contribution to the society can not be compared to faculty. This shows how LSU and the State of Louisiana value or rather devalue some of the best minds in the state.

TO VOICE OF REASON: so what if the information is in the library and/or on the web? Its public info. I think you miss the total point of public information. Public information is for anyone to see no matter what form, paper or electronic, its in. Its easier and more convenient for us to go to a computer and access this info then to go the library and look it up. And to answer your question before you ask. Yes I know where the library is and I know how to use it. If you don't like the fact your info is published here, there is a simple solution. Quit and go into the private sector. Your just being a whiny little b**** because its now easier for someone to see how much or little. Now quit wasting my tax dollars and get back to work.. Kudos to the Reveille.

Hey Reveille staff, why don't you just go ahead and post our (LSU employees) SSN's and bank account numbers while your at it? If anybody wants to view salary information they can go to the library and get it anytime. This information is available for the public to view, but the Reveille website and Google docs is not the place for this information. IMO, this was a classless act that will serve absolutely no purpose. Nice work Reveille staff and Student Media directors!
