The C-Section: ‘Free Boosie’ movement stupid, asks for release of murderer

Going to jail on a regular basis seems to be a recurring problem with rap artists these days. (I wonder why).

Most seem to get picked up by police on drug or weapons charges, but they're usually released shortly after.

But two rap-star incarcerations in the past few years have really stuck out.

First, Lil Wayne earned himself a year in jail after getting arrested for carrying a gun in New York after a concert in 2007.

On March 8, 2010, almost three years later, Wayne was finally locked up.

Then something strange happened.

"Free Weezy" shirts popped up in store windows, and Facebook statuses among the Wayne loyalty suddenly changed, informing all their friends the gun-toting, tear-drop-tattooed criminal should be released.

In another case, Baton Rouge rapper Lil Boosie was sentenced in 2009 to two years for a marijuana charge. But his sentence was later doubled to four years after authorities caught Boosie violating his probation while awaiting sentencing.

With Boosie's incarceration, even more ignorant propaganda sprung up — this time in the form of "Free Boosie."

And just as Lil Wayne's release approached, a storm hit poor Boosie. He was indicted on a first-degree murder charge for the death of Terry Boyd.

East Baton Rouge District Attorney Hillar Moore III  also launched an investigation into whether Boosie was involved in five other slayings.

Needless to say, Boosie does  not seem like a person you would want to free.

But this didn't stop the "Free Boosie" brigade.

More Boosie attire sprung up, bumper stickers were made, and Facebook pages appeared.

Facebook page, "FREE LIL BOOSIE!!!!!!" has more than 81,000 "likes" as of mid-March and a slew of comments from people trying to defend their favorite criminal.

Some aimed their comments toward the stupidity of the group while the majority seem to disregard the seriousness of Boosie's first-degree murder indictment.

One commenter thinks Boosie will make a come back.

"Free mii n---a boosie he da realest n---a it aint nothing minor set back 4 major cum back," she posted.

Another commenter believes Boosie "haters" are jealous.

"TO ALL THE DISRESPECTFUL PPLE THAT WANNA COMMENT ON BOOSiE ‘S Pg,, YU ARE A LAME!! OBVIOUSLY YU WANT SOME HE GOT!! ... FREE BOOSIE," she commented.

Of course, Boosie's got something we'd like — jail time and a first-degree murder indictment.

Jokes aside, why would anyone honestly believe Boosie should be released from jail?

I'll give him some respect as a Louisiana-born rap artist, but his actions completely

overshadow any credibility he once had — and pushing for his release seems completely asinine.

First, it's simply unwise to wear a shirt advocating for the release of any convicted criminal.

It's equally stupid to be associated with "Free Boosie" material after he has been indicted with first-degree murder and possibly linked with five others.

I also find it senseless to even consider Boosie a respectable member of society, considering the music video for his song "We Out Chea," depicts him pointing pistols at the camera while his crime-crew dances behind him.

One part even shows Boosie and Co. beating a guy, likely because he walked on the wrong turf.

Overall, publicly flaunting the desire to release criminals is probably one of the worst things you can do to yourself, aside from committing the same crimes.

Consider you show up for a job

interview with a slick "Free Boosie" sticker on the back of your Escalade. The

interviewer will probably think, "What a moron — this guy wants to free a possible murderer," and not hire you.

Or in general, consider what others think of you when you advocate for a possible murderer to be released — it's usually not a positive assessment.

Our culture has become way too fond of stupidity, and pushing to free Boosie epitomizes that foolishness.

Look until he's charged, he's considered innocent. If he smokes, sell or distribute weed, he has a choice too. Truth is, the south is very corrupt when it comes to the judicial.system. I'm from florida, been to Baton Rouge, Dallas texas, and now living in Atl.

For all the people who talk about Boosie and no nothing of what's really going on, Terry Boyd's action's where no better then Boosie's Terry Boyd stole from people and killed people! Terry Boyd aka Nussie so called BadAzz was tryin to use Boosie as getting his name out there by trying to still his name and he did many more thing's of related to stuff like that. Boosie also clam's that Nussie killed his best friend so even if Boosie did have Nussie killed he had his reason's and even know your not suppost to take someone's life Marlo Mike did Baton Rouge a favor by taking out one of the top felen's in the city! And o you didnt know that Marlo Mike was the one who killed Nussie o what a change in word's and thought's u will have for Boosie now!!! Lol yea that's right Marlo Mike killed Nussie yes a 16 year old hitman did it and even told the fed's he did it and he also killed Boosie's bestfriend Bleek. The fed's are just trying to pin it on Boosie because Boosie was once Marlo Mike's friend until he made a deal with the fed's to say Boosie payed him to kill Nussie and yes u didnt know the feds have been after boosie because he is a black man coming out of the hood and doing better than them by making the yearly savlery $30.000 in one night by doing one show! Yea bet u didnt know that either. The feds have been trying to lock Boosie up for the longest. Calling him name's stoping him for no reason, just doing what police do best to black people! So once again a change in thought that boosie killed someone! So stop going by what the media and the streets tell u and go by the real fact's!!! Damn im not kiddiing yall will belieave anything just to hate on someone.

Man if you don't like it don't worry about it! You really sound like a little girl bitching and complaining about a rapper you obviously don't care about, it's amazing how you would actually take the time to write about how much you hate people supporting a rapper who is locked up, all because in your disneyland you believe everyone like him is automatically guilty.

In this country as the other guy said you are "innocent until proven guilty" now I know the media is bending that rule to the max these days, but the fact remains you can't call this guy a murderer or say people support a murderer until a trial has occurred and he has been found guilty, so stop the holier than thou routine it's old and boring...

Ever heard of the concept of innocent until proven guilty? The only thing he's been convicted of is marijuana possession.

Thank you "Anonymous" for that utterly thought provoking comment. I've never seen the argument presented so clearly, and I am now 100% behind the "Free Boosie" campaign due to your enlightened words. It is people like you that convince me, the non-rap-music-listening-layman to stand behind such a cherished member of our community, despite that little thing called "murder." Murder? Pssh... who isn't doing it these days? Clearly the DA is just trying to oppress the common man, or as you so eloquently put it, "they really do try yo see u put away in the system.." By the way, your punctuation use is atrocious. Chalk up another win for the LA public school system!

I finally agree w/ something you say. I've been wondering about this for a while. Why on earth would they want a murderer freed?! Who cares that he's a rapper? What if he killed someone in your family?? Would you want people pleading for his freedom just because he's "famous"? Wake up! Do these celebs have y'all so brainwashed that you will beg for a murderer to be released?! He don't care about y'all!

Think about people who were close to Terry Boyd. How do you think they feel seeing people walking around with tshirts that directly support the man that killed you relative/close friend.

Now where have I seen people supporting someone because it was "cool" without giving it any serious thought. Hmmm ? .......all I have to say is "Change"

Excuse me Mr. Know It All, but in America its innocent until proven guilty. You can't call Lil Boosie a murderer until he has been found guilty of murder. Yes, he was found with a plant and a gun. You know what, I think I'm going to go hunting sometime and drink alcohol in tigerland one day; point im trying to make is theres really no difference except having a gun and weed are perceived as bad for...well for no good reason really. Learn to do a tad bit of research before you put pen to paper.

These people idolizing a murderer, which by the way, name dropped himself on his songs about the murders he is charged for. The people who are putting boosie up on a pedestal have no regard for life or care for making Baton Rouge a better city.
