After the Tigers (14-7, 2-4) blew a nine-run lead Saturday to allow Arkansas (14-8, 2-4) to even the series, LSU snatched a 4-2 win Sunday to capture its first Southeastern Conference series this season.
LSU junior pitcher Dani Hofer averaged a win every eight hours this past Friday and Saturday to help the Tigers sweep Auburn at Tiger Park. Hofer pitched a complete-game, three-hitter Friday to lead the Tigers to an 8-1 victory in the first game of the series.
Despite making history, LSU's track and field teams came up short in their goal of winning a national championship. The Lady Tigers were runners-up while the Tigers finished fourth at the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 14 and 15 at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark.
LSU football coach Les Miles now has the financial upper-hand on rival Alabama coach Nick Saban. Miles' total annual compensation of $3.751 million edges Saban's by $1,000, according to an agreement signed March 14. Miles' salary was determined after more than two months of negotiations between the University and his agent George Bass.
LSU announced Feb. 8 the dismissal of former coach John Brady. And nearly a month later, he is no longer looking for a job. Arkansas State hired Brady as the Indians' next coach March 19. Former Arkansas State coach Dickey Nutt resigned Feb. 19 after finishing 10-20 this past season and losing in the first round of the Sun Belt conference tournament.
