The Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity house can no longer host Greek social events after being told by Greek Affairs an investigation is being conducted.

A goat was discovered in the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity house during a raid the morning after the fraternity held initiation for its new members, The Daily Reveille has learned. DKE president chapter Kevin Caliva Jr. confirmed there was a goat in the fraternity house at the time of the investigation. "The goat is our international symbol and mascot - that was our decoration for homecoming - and we did have one in the house," Caliva said. At approximately 4:30 a.m. on Nov. 6, LSUPD and representatives from the Office of Greek Affairs and the Dean of Students searched the DKE fraternity house. Dean of Students KC White said Thursday evening that allegations concerning possible violations of the Code of Student Conduct are still being investigated, but she did not say for which charges or give details about the violations. She said the investigation is in the initial stages and the University is working with DKE's national headquarters to resolve the matter. On Nov. 7 White said she could not comment about what prompted the search of the house. Following the search, the fraternity was put on an interim suspension of activities, including a block on Greek socials and philanthropic fundraisers. White said the decision to put the fraternity on interim suspension follows the procedure her office normally implements in similar investigations. "At any point in time we have concerns about the health, safety or welfare of a student, we impose these suspensions," she said. DKE members approached at the house Thursday evening said they were "holding up their end of the deal" by not commenting. LSUPD spokesman Maj. Lawrence Rabalais said he could not comment because LSUPD is no longer a part of the investigation. It has since been turned over to the Office of the Dean of Students. David Easlick Jr., executive director of DKE international headquarters, said he would not comment on the situation. News editor Ginger Gibson contributed to this article.
