(AP) — Louisiana health officials increased the number of people eligible for the swine flu vaccine, announcing Wednesday that people between the ages of 24 and 65 with chronic medical conditions can now get doses.

Previously, the vaccine was available only to health workers, pregnant women and children younger than 6 months old. State health secretary Alan Levine said the doses will become progressively more accessible over the next six weeks.

The state Department of Health and Hospitals also added a feature to its Web site, making it easier to find facilities that have the vaccine. The web address is: www.FightTheFluLA.com. The site will be updated with pharmacies that are offering the vaccine, Levine said.

About 56,000 swine flue vaccines have been distributed, Levine said.
