Sanchez Brumfield, 21, was arrested at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday as a suspect in the Sept. 8 murder of Aaron Arnold in the parking lot of Olive Garden on Seigen Lane.
Brumfield was arrested by the Gwinnett County, Ga. Police Department on counts of first degree murder, attempted first degree murder, attempted armed robbery and use of a firearm, according to an East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office news release.
Gwinnett County was acting on information and a warrant released by the EBR Sheriff's Office.
According to the release, Brumfield was arrested without incident in a Gwinnett County hotel.
Tracy Young, 28, was arrested Saturday for the same charges.
On Sept 8. Arnold was assisting a co-worker after work in the parking lot by putting gas in her car.
They were allegedly approached by Young, who demanded their money, shot Arnold and his co-worker and fled the scene.
Investigators say Brumfield was the driver of the car.
Arnold died that night at Our Lady of the Lake hospital from his wounds.
The other attempted murder victim, who has chosen to remain anonymous, said she was afraid to go out at night until both people involved were arrested.
"I'm just relieved," she said of the second arrest. "I'm very happy they found him."
Arnold's parents said they are thankful for the authorities and eyewitnesses who contributed to the fast capture of the two suspects.
"But it doesn't lift our spirits in that we can't bring our son back," said Aaron Arnold's father Bobby Arnold.
He said his family is awaiting the two suspects' court sentencing.
"I trust the community will do the right thing," he said
According to the news release, the sheriff's office received assistance for this arrest from several law enforcement agencies during the course of the investigation including Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office, Lafayette Police Department, Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office, Amite Police Department, Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office, West Feliciana Parish Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force.
