The condition of former LSU Chancellor and NASA chief Sean O'Keefe is improving, according to a spokesperson from the hospital where O'Keefe is staying.

O'Keefe was injured in the Alaska plane crash that killed former U.S. Sen. Ted Stevens and four others. A spokeswoman at an Anchorage hospital, where the four survivors were taken, says O'Keefe's condition has improved from critical to serious.

O'Keefe's son, Kevin, remains in fair condition.
