LSU freshman infielder Jared Foster has decided to forgo a collegiate football career to focus strictly on baseball.
The Lake Charles native was a walk-on quarterback for the football team and will compete for time at second base this baseball season.
The 6-foot, 185-pounder hit .375 with nine home runs, 33 RBI and 15 stolen bases in his senior season at Barbe High School, earning All-State and All-District honors in both baseball and football.
Coming out of high school, Foster received offers from McNeese State, Southeastern and Tulane to play football, and also compiled a number of baseball offers.
