Danny Bryan was promoted from student assistant to assistant coach of the men's tennis team by head coach Jeff Brown on Monday.
"I'm excited to take the next step in my career and to help continue the great tradition of LSU tennis," Bryan said in a news release.
Bryan takes the assistant position following the departure of former associate head coach Mark Booras to become the head coach of Tulane's men's tennis team.
Bryan, a New Orleans native and University alumnus, played four years of tennis for the Tigers prior to his time as student assistant. He served as co-captain both his junior and senior seasons.
"Danny brings a wealth of playing experience from being a top-ranked Louisiana player and developing into one of the top collegiate players," Brown said. "Now he is transitioning into a coach that will provide us with great leadership and a great work ethic."
The four-year letterman is currently tied for No. 14 in LSU history with 84 career singles wins. He received the 2007 ITA/Arthur Ashe Jr. for Leadership and Sportsmanship award, earned 2007 LSU Male Volunteer of the Year and received Southeastern Conference Community Service team honors three times during his playing career.
