Carly Zimmerman
President Candidate
Ticket: Leading the Way
1. How will you change the daily life of students in your college if elected?
My hope is that the students of CMDA will become even more proud of their college and its achievements. After all, they will be financially supported, their talents will be publicized, and they will know that their Council is always available for questions, comments, and all-around support.
2. What is the most important issue facing students on campus?
The financial instability due to recent budget cuts has affected everyone on campus, including CMDA. By holding fundraisers that appeal to the entire campus, we can not only bring in money from outside our college, but we can unify CMDA students with a common goal.
3. Where do you see the University in five years?
This university is continually striving to be the best, and the next five years will keep with this goal. Our students this year have seen how economically vulnerable we can be and have pulled together with unmatched determination for a better future. This, coupled with the incredible leadership being implemented in Student Government, ensures that LSU will remain a Top Tier University and will be well on its way with Flagship Agenda 2020.
4. What will you change from the past administration?
This year, the Council has focused on getting CMDA more involved with Student Government in order to garner support for our students and programs. Since we've succeeded in this, our next step is to use this new wealth of resources to become more financially stable and better support our students' needs. We will implement a new grade appeal policy, organize exciting college-specific events, and use the contacts we've gained to publicize CMDA's incredible talent.
5. Why are you qualified for the position you're running for?
As the only Presidential CMDA candidate with any Council or SG experience, I know what our issues are and how to deal with them. I've acquired three years' worth of contacts, information, and student input and have positioned our college as a force to be reckoned with in Student Government. I personally met with every CMDA freshman over the summer to foster leadership qualities because my passion for CMDA's future is boundless. The Council and I already have already started working on next year's initiatives, such as securing advertising mediums, improving our practice rooms, and raising money through social events.
