Allison Chancy
Vice President Candidate
Ticket: Leading the Way

1. How will you change the daily life of students in your college if elected?
I, along with the rest of the Music and Dramatic Arts College Council, will help make the daily life of the students one in which all of us can take great pride. We have so many phenomenally talented students and administrators within our college that have so much to bring to the table. It is the responsibility of our college council to get the word out there and make sure that our internationally renowned college gets the publicity and exposure that it deserves!

2. What is the most important issue facing students on campus?
The most pressing issue that our campus is currently facing is the financial crisis. Although this takes a toll on the entire campus, my focus is the College of Music and Dramatic Arts. We are already actively in contact with the administration about ways we can help with the budgeting issues within our college - from the holes in the roof to the fact that our teachers can't print anything to give to students. For example, we are hosting a campus wide event later this semester to raise money for our administration to use, from our council, to fix specific financial issues that are pertinent to our College.

3. Where do you see the University in five years?
I see our beloved LSU far stronger than we, presently, could ever imagine. After a crisis of any kind, the opportunity arises for a group of people to band together to recover. I honestly believe that the LSU family will take our current financial crisis and run with it, with the end result being an LSU that far surpasses our institution that we all know and love. With programs like the Forever LSU Foundation and Flagship Agenda 2020, our current administration has already begun the fight to keep our University at the elite Tier One status that we were finally able to achieve in 2008; it is now up to us to take this opportunity to pour as much support and enthusiasm into these programs and do our part to better our Institution.

4. What will you change from the past administration?
Because I am running incumbent with our current President, we would work to continue what we have already begun. We have established the several strong relationships with our administration as well as with campus-wide organizations that it takes to make this machine run. As the only Vice Presidential candidate representing Music and Dramatic Arts with any Student Government experience, I know what this position takes and plan to take it to the next level!

5. Why are you qualified for the position you're running for?
I love the College of Music and Dramatic Arts and all that it stands for. For this reason it is of utmost importance to me that we as a council put the best face of our college forward for the campus community, city, state and world to see. I have already held this position and know what is required of me, but more than that - I have already laid the foundation and can only continue to work better and harder to achieve new heights for the good of our College. After meeting personally with all incoming music and theater students, as well as their parents, I have a strong understanding of the personality of our college and what types of concerns our students have. Through my leadership, communication, administrative and organizational skills, I will make the concerns of the students the top priority of our council and, through us, the administration of our College. Only then can the needs of the students effectively be met.
