Sarah Gleichenhaus
Secretary Candidate
Ticket: StudentsFIRST
Major: Marketing
Year: Freshman

1. How will you change the daily life of students in your college if elected?
I want to affect the lives of students on campus by making freshman feel comfortable at LSU the minute that they step onto our campus. I want to make a lasting first impression on the incoming freshman in order to reassure the decision that they choose the right college.

2. What is the most important issue facing students on campus?
The most important issue facing students on our campus is budget cuts. I believe that if we can find creative ways to manage funds students can focus on putting more money elsewhere, and focus on more important things, such as their education. This is a better alternative then stressing about money.

3. Where do you see the University in five years?
I see LSU being able to compete with some of the other top school in the nations. I believe with all of the changes that LSU is making we will able to prove the strength of our academics. We will be looked at more seriously as a school.

4. What will you change from the past administration?
I want to change the way new students become affiliated with each other when they come to LSU. I want to create opportunities before school starts and at the beginning of the year that will allow students to get to know each other even if they without having to participate in Stripes, BIOS, rush, etc. If these groups don't appeal to certain people I don't want them to feel excluded when school starts up. We can create opportunities such as meet and greets, lunches, group excursions, etc.

5. Why are you qualified for the position you're running for?
I am qualified for this position; not only have I served in a leadership role before, I have been a freshman (very recently) and can definitely sympathize with certain issues. Besides my experience, I am fully dedicated when it comes to meeting goals that I have set, and fulfilling promises to others. I intend to put forth great effort into making incoming freshman feel welcome here at LSU, and help them transition more easily into the college lifestyle.
