Aimee Simon
Senate Candidate
Ticket: Leading the Way
Major: Political Communications
Year: Freshman
1. How will you change the daily life of students in your college if elected?
As a part of the Leading the Way ticket, one of our initiatives is to put coin machines in dorms for laundry. From personal experience, the Tiger Card machines don't always work, so it would be nice to have a back up plan. We also want to create mobile applications for smart phones so people know when the busses are coming and can access moodle.
2. What is the most important issue facing students on campus?
I think that one of the most important issues is budget cuts. Unfortunately, many teachers are being let go, and I believe this is unfair especially if they don't have tenure. Some of my best teachers have been TA's and I believe that they deserve a chance to stay and teach at LSU.
3. Where do you see the University in five years?
I hope that LSU grows and maintains to be one of the best places to get a higher education.
4. What will you change from the past administration?
I will make sure that the freshman's voices are being heard. I want them to know that they can get involved at LSU and it can be so much more than a school.
5. Why are you qualified for the position you're running for?
I am qualified for the position because I held many leadership positions in high school such as president of Honor Council. I am also currently a senator for UCFY, so I believe I will be able to help out the new UCFY senators get adjusted to being on the Student Government Senate.

Kyle O'Keefe
Senator Candidate
Ticket: Leading the Way
Major: Undeclared
Year: Freshman
1. How will you change the daily life of students in your college if elected?
I will try to make the daily life of an LSU student easier. Students shouldn't have to worry more than they already do, so I hope to try and take care of the little issues affecting the students and make the day-to-day life more enjoyable for a student.
2. What is the most important issue facing students on campus?
The most important issue facing the students on campus is the fear that their voice isn't being heard. With big time issues controlled by the administration like finical issues, it is hard for a student to believe that their voice matters and that needs to change.
3. Where do you see the University in five years?
I see LSU still being the flagship school of Louisiana but also being one of the most progressive universities in the Nation. With budget cuts it is easy to lose faith, but this university will thrive of the challenges facing us and in five years, we will continue to grow and be a very successful university.
4. What will you change from the past administration?
I will attempt to continue on with the past successes of the past administration, but also look ahead to the future. I want to get freshman more involved around campus and make this huge campus feel more like a tight knit community.
5. Why are you qualified for the position you're running for?
I am qualified to be a UCFY Senator because I have a diverse background. I am from the state of Oregon and I traveled down to LSU not knowing anybody. I was selected to serve on the Freshman Leadership Council and have been working with LSU student government this past year. I also have the leadership background necessary to become a Senator on LSU Student Government.

1.How will you change the daily life of students in your college if elected?
If elected to UCFY Senate, I want to reconnect the students to their college. Many students don't even know that they are a part of UCFY or what UCFY stands for. I think this is unacceptable. I would like to serve as a voice as well as a representative for the UCFY
