Some University students' personal information — their names and social security numbers — were displayed on a Web site accessible to the public recently.

The names and social security numbers were displayed on a section of the Web site for the College of Arts and Sciences.

University Registrar Robert Doolos sent a letter dated July 28 to students whose information was compromised, apologizing for the incident.

"We have no evidence that an unauthorized individual is maintaining or using your personal information," Doolos said.

Doolos said the University is working hard to address any problems that may arise and encouraged students to register and use the service at http://creditmonitor.lsu.edu

Doolos was not available for comment today.
