Swimming and Diving: Hamilton, Helm stand out at NCAAs
Both named to All-American team
Even with only two competitors in the mix, the LSU men’s swimming and diving team found a way to shatter program records at the NCAA Championship meet Saturday. Junior Craig Hamilton garnered his second straight NCAA Honorable Mention All-American honors with a 10th place finish in the 1,650-yard freestyle.

Tigers to compete in Seattle starting today
The LSU men’s swimming and diving team will send one swimmer and one diver to the NCAA Championship meet in Seattle beginning today. Swimming coach Dave Geyer said it doesn’t matter that the Tigers have only two athletes representing them. “No matter if it’s one or 20 athletes, we’re going in with the mindset to swim fast, score some points and represent our program on the national level,” Geyer said.

Lady Tigers head to NCAA Swimming Championships
The LSU swimming and diving team will send six Lady Tiger swimmers and one diver to the NCAA Championships in Auburn, Ala., beginning today. Junior Sara Haley and sophomore Torrey Bussey will compete in individual swims — Haley the 100- and 200-butterfly and Bussey the 200-individual medley and the 100-and 200-breaststroke — while senior Samantha Goates, sophomore Rainey White and freshmen Amber Carter and Marlene Niemi will comprise the Lady Tiger 200-freestyle relay team.

Diving qualifies two for NCAA Championships
The LSU diving team will send two athletes to the NCAA Championship meet after competing in the NCAA Zone "D" Regional meet in Iowa City over the weekend. Freshman Alex Bettridge will represent the Lady Tigers and sophomore Daniel Helm will compete for the Tigers, both qualifying on the one-meter springboard.

The LSU diving team will try to ride momentum from a strong Southeastern Conference Championship meet when it competes in the NCAA Zone D Diving Regional in Iowa City, beginning today. There are five zone meets to qualify for the NCAA Championship Meet, with nine men and 12 women qualifying at each.

The LSU swimming and diving team wrapped up the Last Chance Meet in Athens, Ga. on Sunday with two event champions. The meet was the final shot for swimmers who were "on the bubble" to improve their times before selections were made for the NCAA Championship Meet.

The LSU swimming and diving team wrapped up day one of the Last Chance Meet in Athens, Ga., with two event champions. Sophomore Torrey Bussey claimed the 200-yard individual medley title for the Lady Tigers, while junior Andrei Tuomola captured the 50-yard freestyle crown for the Tigers.

Five swimmers to compete in Last Chance Meet
Coming off fifth-place finishes for both the men and women at the Southeastern Conference Championship last weekend, the LSU swimming and diving teams will send five athletes to the 2011 Last Chance Meet on Saturday and Sunday in Athens, Ga. "It's an opportunity right after the conference meet while we're still rested to try to hopefully improve those NCAA rankings to try to get selected for the championship meet," said swimming coach Dave Geyer.
