The University will lay off 24 employees and eliminate 176 vacant job positions because of budget cuts, according to LSU System documents released Wednesday.

Programs like the LSU Museum of Art, LSU Press, Rural Life Museum and Southern Review literary journal will see each of their budgets slashed by 20 percent because of the cuts as well. The Center for Advanced Microstructures and Devices will have to cut $3 million from its budget — a 54 percent cut.

The University has to cut about $19 million from its 2009-10 budget.
